Queensland Ballet Academy welcomes community

Queensland Ballet’s popular community dance classes are expanding, with its state-of-the-art Academy facility in Kelvin Grove welcoming local ballet lovers from this Sunday, January 31. 

Queensland Ballet’s popular community dance classes are expanding, with its state-of-the-art Academy facility in Kelvin Grove welcoming local ballet lovers from this Sunday, January 31.

With approximately 400 participants attending weekly classes at its West End studio, Queensland Ballet is excited to invite more locals to come and try a class at its second home.

Queensland Ballet Head of Strategic Engagement Genevieve Dunn says there is something on offer for everyone, from the littlest lovers of dance to beginner adults and more advanced dancers.

“All of our classes are led by Queensland Ballet’s experienced Teaching Artists, who bring a wealth of knowledge and professional experience to every class,” said Ms Dunn.

Running every Sunday morning, classes on offer include:

·       Early years dance (from ages 1-5)

·       Ballet Level 1 (16+ years)

·       Ballet for Seniors beginner

·       Ballet for Seniors intermediate

·       Seniors ballet repertoire

·       Stretch and Condition

QB’s Ballet for Seniors class remains the most popular class, with QB quickly boosting their weekly West End timetable from one to seven classes per week to accommodate the high demand. With more classes on offer at the Kelvin Grove studio, QB is hopeful more active adults will have the opportunity to try the class.

Queensland Ballet is excited to add more classes to the schedule as the year progresses.

Situated at Kelvin Grove, the Queensland Ballet Academy opened to students in January 2020.

The world-class facility boasts six large dance studios, two multi-purpose rooms, a gym and physio. The Academy combines world-class ballet training while supporting the student’s formal education.
