Queensland Ballet Academy opens Summer School 2020 - 2021 applications
Applications to participate in Queensland Ballet Academy’s 2020 – 2021 Summer School season have opened.
Now in its 7th year, dancers aged 10 - 18 will travel to Brisbane and enjoy six days of dance training with the Academy’s teaching Faculty, overseen by Academy Director, Christian Tátchev and Queensland Ballet Artistic Director, Li Cunxin AO.
Summer School will take place across three sessions on 14 – 19 December 2020, 11 – 16 January 2021, and 18 – 23 January 2021. Each six-day session will be hosted in the Academy’s state-of-the-art new facilities in Kelvin Grove, pending COVID-19 health regulations.
Pre-selection into the Summer School program involves a quick online application process. Each session costs $750, however payment is only due upon approval and enrolment into the dancer’s chosen session/s. Application outcomes are expected to be finalised by December 2020. Participants from across Australia and internationally are welcome to apply, however, consideration should be given to travel arrangements to and from Queensland with individual regional border regulations.
Summer School participants enjoy classes in ballet technique, pointe, repertoire, character dance, contemporary dance, male technique, and pas de deux (pending number of male participants). Each session will also include information forums featuring industry and health professionals. Queensland Ballet Academy promotes an environment of collaboration and excellence among young dancers.
December will mark the first Summer School in Queensland Ballet Academy’s new home in Kelvin Grove.
