Pre-Professional Program students in Aspire ’21

Queensland Ballet Academy’s Pre-Professional Program dancers will take to the stage from 20 – 22 May 2021, showcasing their technique and artistry in the annual showcase Aspire ’21.

Aspire’21 will feature Matador Suite, a traditional piece choreographed by Academy Director, Christian Tátchev, inspired by scenes from the ballet Don Quixote, and Intimate Dialogues, a neo-classical work created by Head of Academy Program (Levels 3 - 1) and Resident Choreographer, Paul Boyd.

Commenting on the upcoming season, Tátchev said: “Our annual performances of Aspire have always served as an opportunity for the Academy to present our graduating cohort in challenging and diverse choreographic works within a professional performance setting. The dancers are challenged with performing both ensemble and soloist works, as well as with discovering and developing the technical and artistic elements fundamental to our artform.”

Four performances in the season will be offered at the Academy’s facilities in Kelvin Grove, in an intimate studio-theatre setting.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting www.queenslandballet.com.au/aspire2021.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
