Queensland Ballet provides industry-informed ballet and dance training pathways through our world-class Academy, developing dancers towards professional careers in Australia and overseas. Together, we are nurturing the dancers of the future.
Under the direction of Queensland Ballet Artistic Director, Li Cunxin AO, and Academy Director, Christian Tátchev, Queensland Ballet Academy provides comprehensive professional ballet and dance training programs and events for students from age 8 through to career employment.

The Lisner Ballet Academy was established in 1953 by Queensland Ballet’s founder, Charles Lisner OBE. This academy inspired Queensland Ballet’s commitment to nurturing the young dancers of the future, and our training programs today are a continuation of Charles Lisner OBE’s vision.
Proudly, we continue to build on the legacy to train world-class dancers right here in Australia.
Queensland Ballet Academy takes a holistic approach towards training and education. Queensland Ballet’s Performance Health team and affiliated professionals, provide comprehensive support and are dedicated to educating young dancers in healthy practises that they can use throughout their lives.
We focus on developing students’ creativity, curiosity, artistry and technical dance abilities, while being committed to ensuring they are well equipped academically and empowered for their futures.

#The Queensland Ballet Relationship
Academy students benefit from being immersed within the professional industry, with direct involvement with Queensland Ballet through:
Guest teachers and choreographers from Queensland Ballet’s Artistic team, as well as visiting national and international creatives working with the Company.
Students are often involved in Queensland Ballet performances as trainee artists or in children’s roles. Students have access to shared performance spaces, and the experience of observing and participating in the Company's rehearsals during seasons.
Students have the opportunity to develop professional relationships earlier in their career, and be inspired by those already on their career path.
